Scored some new Stabilo pencils of various colors from FLAX Art & Design in San Fran last weekend, so I took 'em for a test run in my art journal. Train of thought as I played around: Intersection & identity. What do both look like in my daily life?
I've spent the last week and a half with either my nose in the art books my love gifted me last Christmas, or engrossed in videos artists post to their YouTube channels.
Technique. I'm pushing myself creatively to explore, to try my hand at various techniques, hoping that doing so will add more dimension and a more fluid style to my work.
Last night's art journal page was an exploration of some layering and blending courtesy of my newly acquired brayers. I've done some scratching and scraping in previous canvas work, and added some here as well. I finished it off by playing around with my micron pens, adding ink in various places across the sheet.
The layering, blending, and scraping was fun-I can tell I'm particularly fond of these three. I'm still not sure about ink-I'm not much of a sketch or drawing person, but I did enjoy finding lines and spaces to highlight throughout the piece. But we'll see. I'll keep dabbling in it to see what develops.
